Every year, MITESOL offers grants to support participation among its members in our annual conference.

The following grant awardees have their conference registration fees waived or reimbursed.

1 award annually | This award covers the cost of conference registration and is designated for MITESOL members who are employed (full- or part-time) or volunteering in the field of Adult ESL education in Michigan in public school districts, refugee & migrant programs, community- & church-based programs, workplace education, ABE, and private language institutes, among others. (Those working in post-secondary English contexts such as university IEP’s are not eligible for this grant.) | ||
EC & PreK-12 Educators | 1 award annually | This award covers the cost of conference registration and is designated for MITESOL members who are employed (full- or part-time) in an early childhood, preschool, or K-12 Institution in Michigan in any subject area (STEM, Social Studies, Languages/Literacy, ESL, etc.). All teachers, aides, paraprofessionals, and administrators who work in EC or PreK-12 contexts are eligible. Specializing in ESL is not necessary. (Those teaching adult education courses in K-12 districts are not eligible for this grant and should apply for the adult education grant.)

Post-Secondary Students |
1 award annually |
This award covers the cost of conference registration and is designated for MITESOL members who are enrolled (full- or part-time) in a post secondary institution in Michigan in any preservice/inservice education area. Specializing in ESL is not necessary. | ||
Northern Michigan Educators | 1 award annually | This award is designated for MITESOL members who work or volunteer in some capacity with ELs or ESL teachers in the Upper Peninsula or northern region of the Lower Peninsula. This includes a wide variety of contexts, from adult education (community programs, ABE) and elementary and secondary school through post-secondary institutions (IEPs, college/university ESL and AL/TESOL programs). Any teachers, tutors, professors, administrators, or volunteers who work with EL learners and/or ESL teachers (full- or part-time), in any context north of Route 10 in Michigan eligible to apply for this grant. Awarding of this grant varies according to budget restraints. |
