SIG: CALL

Scope

The CALL SIG provides a means of sharing, discussion and learning about the ever-changing opportunities for utilizing computer technology in ESL. With the goal of staying current in a rapidly changing area, the CALL SIG draws from the knowledge and experience of its members. Members of the CALL SIG do not need to be proficient with technology, but simply have an interest in it.

Purpose

Although CALL is a special interest group within MITESOL, we seek to not only broaden the awareness of our own members, but to provide information and practical applications of technology for the entire MITESOL organization. This is accomplished through a SIG-sponsored session(s) at the annual conference.

Activities

  • Monthly emails designed to gather information, inform members and stimulate discussion.
  • At least one SIG-sponsored session at the annual MITESOL conference.
  • Annual general meeting and informal discussion sessions at the MITESOL conference.
  • Member-initiated projects.
  • Workshops and colloquia during the year.

Membership Participation

Members are encouraged to participate in the SIG by:

  • Sharing resources, ideas, and lesson plans
  • Sending questions and answers to the SIG leader
  • Proposing SIG-sponsored sessions for the annual MITESOL Conference
  • Suggesting and leading projects, workshops and colloquia

Leadership

Elections to this position are held every two years at the MITESOL conference. Please contact the current representative if you are interested in serving in this position.
