Job Description:
The English Language Institute at the University of Michigan has two positions open for part-time Intermittent Lecturers to teach in ELI 994, the LSA ELI-CRLT GSI Course, a three-week summer program from July 23 - August 15, 2012. The course prepares entering international students for work as Graduate Student Instructors (GSIs) in the College of Literature, Science, and Arts (LSA).
ELI instructors will provide language classes in English for GSI work and facilitate Practice Teaching sessions with extensive written oral performance assessment of each practice teaching candidate, and an individual consultation with each teacher observed. Teaching special sessions on topics in pronunciation and other relevant areas of expertise may also be possible. Each Lecturer will have a 35% appointment for the months of July and August, which translates to full-time work for 3.5 weeks. In the Intensive English Program, the fellow will gain experience teaching in a variety of skill areas (reading, writing, grammar, and listening and speaking) and proficiency levels (beginning to low-advanced). A faculty mentor and staff and faculty in the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning will provide guidance and training in instructional methods, design, delivery, and assessment to develop excellence in teaching. The fellow will also be mentored by the Intensive English Program Academic Coordinator and have the opportunity to engage with the Office of International Education to gain career-building experience and skills necessary to work in a university setting.
In the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning, the fellow will participate in professional development and training by first participating in the New Faculty Orientation Week and New Faculty Transition Program. The fellow will also work with a cohort of faculty from different colleges and disciplines to observe a variety of content courses and teaching styles and reflect on those observations to improve teaching skills. This work will permit the fellow to gain a broader perspective on the experiences and goals of IEP students to help prepare them for academic programs at Ferris. Additional training and support through the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning will be delivered to enable the fellow to develop skills and knowledge in areas such as:

Successful applicants will have an MA in Teaching English as a Second Language (MATESL) or in a related field, and will have previous teaching experience, preferably in ESL courses. Some administrative experience is desirable but not required. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with international students or in international settings.

Language Center International (LCI) is looking for well-qualified teachers. We have immediate needs from 9 am to 4:15 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays for our next term, beginning on March 7.
LCI's current rate for teachers is $22 per fifty-minute contact hour.
LCI is a private language school in Southfield that is accredited by NCA and was established over twenty years ago. It offers high quality English instruction to currently over 100 students from all over the world. The students' proficiency levels range from extremely basic to highly advanced.
We are looking for instructors who are willing to strive toward excellence.

Minimum Requirements:
