The World Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) project is a research and development center based in the Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER) of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. WIDA focuses on research and development to enhance the understanding of second language acquisition and development in PreK-12 education. The WIDA project employs 70 staff members including graduate and undergraduate students, academic staff, and university staff with an annual budget of roughly $25 million primarily funded by grants with federal agencies such as the US Department of Education and service contracts with 31 State Education Agencies and many local school districts. In addition to serving our own investigators, WIDA collaborates with leading national organizations such as the Center for Applied Linguistics, WestEd, University of California Los Angeles, and the Council of Chief State School Officers. WIDA is at the forefront of second language acquisition and development research, educational standards and assessments, and educator professional development. Thirty-one of the fifty US states, as well as various territories, are members of the WIDA Consortium and count on WIDA for leadership and support.
Job Decription:
The World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) Consortium is a consortium of over 30 member states dedicated to the design and implementation of high standards and equitable educational opportunities for English language learners. WIDA's professional development (PD) activities are key to the implementation of the WIDA standards and assessment products. The Professional Development Outreach Specialist will support the development and dissemination of professional development opportunities and resources to teachers and administrators throughout the consortium. We will consider telecommuting agreements for candidates who live in or in close proximity to WIDA member states.
1. In collabortation with team members and other WIDA departments, create and develop curricula and materials for new professional development offerings, and enhance current offerings;
2. Develop and deliver training and technical assistance on the WIDA standards and assessment system for state and national audiences;
3. Work with adult professional development user groups on new techniques and practices through meetings, workshops, conferences, the preparation of training materials, and other means;
4. Collaborate with project leadership on training conferences which include planning, development, delivery, and presentation of materials and resources; and
5. Develop and deliver on-line or web-based training materials and resources to members of the WIDA Consortium.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred in education or related field.

5. Excellent organizational skills, ability to organize and display information to suit the needs of diverse audiences; ability to work independently and manage work load to meet outside deadlines and expectations;
6. Experience coordinating training sessions, including planning and executing training;
7. Experience with web-based technologies including Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word; on line training including WebEx, Web casts, and Two-Way video; and distance learning platforms including Moodle.
8. Experience and training as an instructional coach preferred.

Compensation:

In the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning, the fellow will participate in professional development and training by first participating in the New Faculty Orientation Week and New Faculty Transition Program. The fellow will also work with a cohort of faculty from different colleges and disciplines to observe a variety of content courses and teaching styles and reflect on those observations to improve teaching skills. This work will permit the fellow to gain a broader perspective on the experiences and goals of IEP students to help prepare them for academic programs at Ferris. Position: Entry Level Position: Front Desk Administrator

Language Center International (LCI) is seeking a highly qualified front desk administrator to enhance its team. The front desk administrator is the first person to greet our students/clients, who come from many cultures and have varying communication styles.
The successful candidate must, therefore, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to multi-task, a strong working knowledge of computers, especially in word processing and spreadsheet usage, excellent typing, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work with a diverse population.
The responsibilities of the job include, but are not limited to, responding to inquiries, answering the telephone, collecting payments, photocopying, filing, scheduling appointments, and maintaining the school calendar, email and voicemail through Outlook. This administrator will report to and work closely with the Registrar and the Director.
Normal working hours are Monday to Thursday from 8:45 to 4:30. During the last week of each term, all administrative personnel work Fridays from 8:45-1:30. Compensation covers 50 weeks and two weeks of vacation at the end of December.
Knowledge of a second language and basic regulations for international students is desired, but not mandatory. The successful applicant must exhibit the ability to maintain confidential information.

Position(s): Continuing Lecturers for the ESL Writing Program (3 positions open)
Location: Department of English at Purdue University
We welcome applications from candidates with a demonstrated interest in teaching ESL writing at the college level. The primary duties for each of the three Continuing Lecturer positions we seek to fill include teaching three sections of ENGL 10600-I (Introductory Composition for International Students) per semester. Other duties may involve curriculum and materials development, administrative work, and mentoring new instructors in the program. Successful applicants will have an MA in Teaching English as a Second Language (MATESL) or in a related field, and will have previous teaching experience, preferably in ESL courses. Some administrative experience is desirable but not required. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with international students or in international settings.
Continuing Lecturers at Purdue are part of the permanent teaching staff, receive full-time salary during the academic year, and are eligible for medical and retirement benefits. LCI's current rate for teachers is $22 per fifty-minute contact hour.
