Andrew Domzalski

Dear MITESOL Members,

I am happy to report that the 2012 Fall MITESOL Conference “Serving for a Better World” held at Madonna University was a great success, as attested by the very positive feedback that we received both formally through the SurveyMonkey and informally through conversations with the participants. We boasted an excellent turnout of 304 attendees, who had an opportunity to choose among the fifty seven break-out sessions. We enjoyed immensely two highly informative key note speakers’ sessions delivered by Dr. Angelika Kraemer and Dr. Adrian Wurr, who inspired all of us to make service learning an integral part of both ESOL instruction as well as teacher preparation. The conference was indeed a great professional development opportunity as we shared with each other our experiences in best TESOL classroom practices and discussed the newest trends in scholarship. It was also a wonderful platform for networking with our colleagues across the state.

At our MITESOL Board meeting that took place on November 10, 2012 in Lansing we said fare well to three long-term members of the Board whose tenure ended: Past President Wendy Wang, Communication Coordinator Kay Stremler, and Exhibits Manager Alyce Howarth. All three contributed immensely to the success of MITESOL over the last few years. Their unwavering dedication to our organization remains a model to all of us currently serving on the Board.

I would also like to thank all of those who have volunteered for the MITESOL in any capacity over the years.  Your service has made this organization great. We have several colleagues who joined the Board this year and I hope that even more of TESOL professionals will decide to get involved in near future. Let’s remember that the success of MITESOL depends on us.

Andrew Domzalski, President
